Gunyaŋara
Gunyaŋara is a Yolŋu community of approximately 250 people located 13 kilometres from Nhulunbuy, approximately a 15 minute drive via a sealed road.
The Gunyaŋara community was established in the late 1970s when the Yunupingu family moved back to their traditional homelands after leaving the Yirrkala mission. Gunyaŋara is a small island joined to the mainland by a causeway, showcasing spectacular views on the drive over.
Gunyaŋara is home to the Gopu Community Store and is surrounded by beautiful beaches.

Gopu Community Store is a Yolŋu managed general store located in the Gunyaŋara community, a 15 minute drive from Nhulunbuy. The Gopu Community Store sells groceries, fruit, hot lunch and great coffee! Made from locally produced timber from the Gumatj Corporation timber and saw mill the Gopu Community Store showcases amazing wooden furniture with items such as chopping boards, tables and chairs for sale.
