Ask any local when the best time to catch a famous Territory barramundi would be, and the answer would probably be during the wet season. The wet season covers the periods known as the build-up and the run-off which are classed as the two best times to target the elusive barra and have the chance to snag a spot in the exclusive one metre barra club! It has long been debated as to which is better, the dry season or the wet season. But no matter what the answer is, the thrilling monsoonal storms are nearly always on the ‘pros’ list for the wet season. There is something special about the relief the rain brings and the brilliant colours that come alive as the earth soaks it in.
3. Take to the air and marvel at Arnhem Land’s magnificent wetlands

There’s something truly magical about seeing the rivers and wetlands of Arnhem Land at their prime during the wet season. The river systems are alive, the abundant wildlife is thriving and the colours of the greening landscapes are indescribable. 4. Absorb the epic sunsets

While you could argue Arnhem Land has amazing sunsets all year round, the sunsets over the wet season are particularly beautiful thanks to the colour catching ability of clouds.
