Gapuwiyak Culture and Arts
Overview
Gapuwiyak Culture and Arts Centre is located in the stunning community of Gapuwiyak, also known as Lake Evella, 220 kilometres west of Nhulunbuy. The art centre is community owned and operated and sells locally produced works as well as housing its own collection.
The Art Centre supports over 100 artists from Gapuwiyak and surrounding homelands, and assists artists to collect and prepare materials, make high-quality art, explore ideas, develop knowledge and skills, exhibit, market and sell their work.
The Gapuwiyak Culture and Arts Centre is a great place to visit if you are travelling the Central Arnhem Road. Its relaxed and friendly atmosphere makes it a perfect place to stop and rest, have a coffee and explore the art centre.
To enter the community of Gapuwiyak and visit the art centre a Tourist Permit is required from the Northern Land Council.
Gapuwiyak Culture and Arts Centre also frequents the Nhulunbuy Corporation Community Markets where you can purchase items from a small range of their stunning works.
